Chengdu Gears Up for TWG 2025 with 100-Day Countdown Celebration
CHENGDU, China, April 28, 2025 — As International Workers’ Day approaches, Chengdu will mark the 100-day countdown to The World Games 2025 Chengdu (TWG 2025 Chengdu) on April 29. The host city is preparing for the Games, scheduled for August, with a series of events designed to boost the local economy and community.
The TWG 2025 Chengdu Executive and Coordination Committees announced the opening of the Games’ first official licensed merchandise store in Beijing on April 27, coinciding with the trial run of the “Beijing Aoyuan City Street” commercial area.
Located in the heart of Beijing Olympic Park, the store promotes the Olympic spirit and serves as a hub for international cultural and sports exchange. TWG 2025 Chengdu aims to use this location to strengthen the TWG brand and expand its global influence from a strategic base in Beijing.
The event featured the launch of new TWG 2025 Chengdu themed products, including the “Sichuan Puzzle Badge” and the “Four-Season Fridge Magnet Gift Box Featuring Mascots.” The world’s first AI-generated mascot duo for the World Games was also unveiled, drawing considerable attention.
These innovative AI robotic mascots, a first for a major international sporting event, utilize bionic sensors, intelligent recognition, and adaptive learning algorithms to mimic realistic pet behaviors, fostering a unique connection with users through daily interaction.
While the Aoyuan City Street location is a standalone store, four other locations—the Beijing Gifts Scenic Avenue Store, Bird’s Nest LM Store, Dual Olympics Themed Store, and the Olympic Museum Cultural Creative Store—operate under a “store-in-store” model. These five stores, launched concurrently, will act as key promotional platforms for TWG 2025 Chengdu and the city itself.
On the evening of April 29, Chengdu will stage a World Games-themed flash mob at the Twin Towers, adding to the celebratory atmosphere with athletic activities and games-related promotions.
Major events serve as effective “city ambassadors.” Chengdu has recently hosted significant events such as the 2022 World Team Table Tennis Championships and the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games, and initiated the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup, hosting over 50 high-profile international and domestic sports events each year. These events have garnered Chengdu recognition from international sports organizations, including titles like “Golden Host City” and “City of Outstanding Contribution.” Wang Yi, Director-General of the Chengdu Municipal Sports Bureau, stated, “Through sports events, more people are discovering Chengdu’s development potential and diverse appeal.”
