Guizhou Culture Showcases Batik, Dong Songs, and Tea, Strengthening China-Sweden Ties
STOCKHOLM, June 07, 2025 — The “Nihao! China” Dragon Boat Festival Garden Party, a collaborative effort between the China Cultural Center in Stockholm and the Culture and Tourism Department of Guizhou Province, successfully concluded on May 31st (local time) at Kungsträdgården in Stockholm, Sweden. As part of the celebrations for the 75th anniversary of China-Sweden diplomatic relations, the Guizhou delegation, comprising intangible cultural heritage inheritors and performance troupes, presented four immersive cultural zones: the “Tea for Harmony Yaji Cultural Salon,” “Wonder on Fingertips, Great Beauty of Intangible Heritage,” “Delicious Cuisine in Duanwu, Happy Journey to Explore,” and “Gorgeous Ethic Costumes, Beauty and Co-Prosperity.” The “Conversation and Connection” performance showcased Guizhou’s unique ethnic songs and dances, offering a panoramic view of the region’s charm, known as “Fascinating Guizhou, A Heaven of Myriad Mountains,” to the Nordic audience, and served as a cultural tribute to the friendship between the two nations.
Chinese Ambassador to Sweden Cui Aimin and his wife, Li Lihong, along with Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of China in Sweden and Director of the China Cultural Center in Stockholm, Li Rui, were among the invited guests. Ambassador Cui Aimin toured the exhibition areas and enjoyed the Guizhou song and dance performances. The Ambassador and his wife commented, “We are deeply impressed by Guizhou’s rich tourism resources, vibrant ethnic cultures, and authentic local cuisine. The Guizhou delegation’s presentations vividly reflect the profound and unique charm of Chinese culture and strengthen the bonds between the people of China and Sweden.”
The event drew over 10,000 visitors and received enthusiastic responses from the Swedish public. Many attendees expressed a newfound interest in Chinese culture, especially the diverse culture of Guizhou. One visitor commented, “It’s amazing! These handicrafts are exquisite, and the tea is truly unique. I really want to visit Guizhou and experience it firsthand!”
