YAKESHI CITY, China, Nov. 15, 2024 — Inner Mongolia launched its 2024-2025 winter tourism season on November 7th with the “Song Tour of Inner Mongolia – Joyful Ice and Snow Season” in Yakeshi City. This event, organized by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region’s Department of Culture and Tourism, heralds the region’s spectacular winter. As the northern frontier transitions from warmer seasons, it’s now adorned with a winter wonderland, inviting visitors to a romantic winter escape.

Winter Tourism’s Early Arrival

Inner Mongolia’s winter offers much more than a simply white landscape; it’s a vibrant season of activities and services. The region will roll out its winter tourism offerings in three phases over five months.

Phase one highlights Hulunbuir, Xing’an League, and Ulanqab City. Phase two, starting November 20th, features Hohhot, Chifeng, Baotou, and Ordos. The final phase, beginning December 1st, includes Tongliao, Xilingol League, Bayannur, Wuhai, and Alxa League.

A Winter Wonderland from East to West

Hulunbuir offers adventures like the “Phoenix Mountain Wilderness Crossing” and the “Ice and Snow Journey – Phoenix Adventure.” Visitors can experience reindeer herding traditions in the “Aoluguya Migration” performance or enjoy a “Forest Fairytale Wedding.” Alternatively, cozy cabins provide a tranquil escape.

Xing’an League presents daily Ulan Muqir performances, ice and snow festivals, hot springs, New Year celebrations, and the Ice and Snow Nadam. Train concerts, fairytale events, and snowball fights are also on offer. A unique experience includes a -40°C river drift followed by a 70°C hot spring soak.

Ulanqab City’s “An Invitation to Ice and Snow from Inner Mongolia – Step West to Ski” centers around the Wulanhada Volcano and seven scenic routes, featuring 100 events over 100 days. Whether a skier, photographer, foodie, or culture enthusiast, Ulanqab promises memorable experiences.

Hohhot City’s “Song Tour of Inner Mongolia – Ice and Snow Joy in the Green City” festival blends folk traditions and modern entertainment. Chifeng City offers eight premium tourism routes encompassing skiing, self-drive tours, fruit picking, and New Year customs. Baotou City’s cultural program includes “Admiring the Yellow River’s Wonders – Watching Baotou’s Drift Ice,” New Year’s Eve concerts, and riverside village galas. Ordos introduces the “Warm City Snow Village” and “Warm City Ice and Snow Nightlife” projects.

December will see further ice and snow activities across Inner Mongolia, from Tongliao and Xilingol westward, showcasing the region’s diverse winter landscapes.

Open Road Melodies

Twenty-five unique winter tourism routes are launched this year, including the “Most Beautiful 331” border highway and the “Thrilling Ice and Snow Crossing” self-drive tour through Xing’an.

Inner Mongolia’s winter beauty extends from the Hulunbuir Grassland to the Greater Khingan Forest, from Arxan Tianchi Lake to the Wulanbutong battlefield. Visitors can experience snowflakes, snow-laden branches, encounters with horses and herdsmen, and moments of quiet reflection.

The “Song Tour of Inner Mongolia” is central to this winter season, including the “Hulunbuir Grassland Silver Winter Song King Competition,” blending music and scenery. Additional musical tours will enrich Inner Mongolia’s winter tourism offerings.
