Jinan Opens International Communication Center in Paris, Showcases Spring Culture “`

JINAN, China, Nov. 28, 2024 — Celebrating the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations and the Year of Cultural and Tourism Exchange, Jinan launched its Overseas International Communication Center and the “Opportunities China ‘Springs’ in Jinan Cultural Exhibition” in Paris on November 26th. This event showcased Jinan’s unique spring culture, highlighting the harmonious relationship between the city and its natural springs. The goal was to foster cultural understanding and exchange between China and France.

Sun Shihui, deputy director-general of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jinan Municipal Committee and director of the Jinan Civilization Office, emphasized the strong bond between Jinan and Paris, despite the distance. He described Jinan, known as the “City of Springs,” as a place where springs are integral to its identity and soul. The Paris center will promote Sino-French friendship, cultural exchange, and showcase Jinan’s unique spring culture to a global audience, fostering international communication and presenting a modern image of the city.

Lyazid Benhami, vice president of the Paris Association of French-Chinese Friendship, lauded Jinan’s rich history and cultural heritage, emphasizing the harmonious coexistence of the city and its springs. He stated that the exhibition and the new communication center offer the French people a valuable opportunity to understand Jinan’s natural beauty, history, and development, strengthening Sino-French ties.

Sophie Mette, a member of the French National Assembly, highlighted the longstanding history of cultural exchange between France and China. She noted that the spring culture exhibition, integrating cultural and ecological themes, promotes appreciation of Jinan’s unique charm and raises awareness of water conservation.

Christian NAMY, former French MP and special advisor to China’s Ministry of Commerce, emphasized cultural commonalities between the two countries based on his experience visiting China. He viewed Jinan as a symbol of China’s spring culture and a model of sustainable development, balancing economic growth with environmental protection.

The “Opportunities China ‘Springs’ in Jinan Cultural Exhibition” featured sections on spring landscapes, culture, formation, conservation, and aesthetics, offering a comprehensive exploration of Jinan’s spring heritage. The immersive “Every home has spring, every household has willows” display provided a vivid experience of Jinan’s spring culture.

The event, organized by the Jinan Municipal People’s Government Information Office and the Shandong Branch of the News Information Center of Xinhua News Agency, was attended by sixty distinguished guests from China and France. The new Jinan Overseas International Communication Center represents a significant step forward in enhancing Jinan’s international presence and promoting its spring culture globally.
