Manifesto Calls for President’s Rule in Singapore Before 2025 Election, Citing Flaws in Political System
Singaporean author EShan V’s book, “Global Citizens’ Manifesto: Happy New Democracy,” critiques Singapore’s current political framework, suggesting AI-driven governance as a substitute for what he views as a flawed democracy. The book calls for a period of President’s Rule before the 2025 General Election and advocates for a direct, dynamic democracy in place of traditional regency republics.

SINGAPORE, April 02, 2025 — A Singaporean man in his sixties, EShan V, has collaborated with artificial intelligence (AI) to develop an alternative democratic model intended to challenge Singapore’s existing political structure. His publication, “Global Citizens’ Manifesto: Happy New Democracy,” illustrates how AI partnerships can yield viable alternatives to conventional governance.
Singapore, often criticized for strict political controls, limited media freedom, and alleged manipulation through mass media, is now presented with a potentially transformative alternative via this new book. The “Global Citizens’ Manifesto” offers what it claims is the first comprehensive plan for democratic reform, specifically designed for small nations but with global applicability, suggesting Singapore as an ideal test case.
“Existing democratic systems suffer from inherent weaknesses that hinder genuine representation. AI provides tools to rectify these imbalances, returning meaningful political power to the people,” says EShan, author of “Global Citizens’ Manifesto.”
The manifesto proposes President’s Rule in Singapore prior to the GE2025 elections, concurrent with a UN-led “Democracy Compliance Check,” based on the argument that the current system is a pseudo-democracy needing fundamental reform. It champions a model of direct dynamic democracy to supplant the “Regency Republic,” which EShan asserts is prevalent in democracies worldwide.
The book introduces a concept of industry/profession-based constituencies for democratic nations, aiming to ensure governance reflects diverse expertise across economic sectors. This structure is meant to replace what EShan terms an “Elected Oligarchy,” where electoral processes create a false impression of representation while concentrating power within elite circles.
The publication raises concerns relevant to Singapore’s citizens, especially regarding financial autonomy. Recent modifications to Singapore’s Central Provident Fund have sparked concern for the author, citing the introduction of a retirement account (RA) system that effectively restricts access to over $200,000 of citizens’ life savings. Given that Provident Fund contributions are among the highest globally, EShan questions the security of these funds and suggests the possibility of a government scheme managing withdrawals using new contributions, all while ensuring continued electoral success.
“As Abraham Lincoln famously said, you can’t fool all of the people all the time,” EShan states. “The lack of significant opposition questioning these fundamental shifts in citizens’ financial freedoms suggests the contrived nature of Singapore’s multi-party system.”
Going beyond theoretical criticism, the manifesto outlines a decentralized governance system powered by AI capabilities. The proposed framework aims to move beyond the constraints of representative democracy towards direct citizen involvement in policy creation and execution.
Released amidst increasing global discussions about the strength of democracy and the applications of technology in governance, the book illustrates how human insights combined with machine intelligence can address intricate political challenges that have confounded reformers for generations.
The author is currently working on translating his work into multiple languages. Publishers who are interested in working with the author can send publishing proposals via email, specifying their preferred language.
is available on Kindle for those interested in its arguments and proposals. Its release coincides with growing calls for democratic renewal, offering tangible steps toward governance systems founded on technological innovation and genuine citizen participation.
The companion volume, explores a significant challenge: how the outdated siphon toilet system contributes to excessive water waste and presents innovative “Virtual Siphon Toilet” for conservation and sustainable sanitation solutions.
