Pinghu City to Boost Overseas Investment in 2025 “`
PINGHU, China, Dec. 30, 2024 — Strategically located on China’s East China Sea coast, northeast of Zhejiang Province, Pinghu sits north of Shanghai and south of Hangzhou Bay. Encompassing 557 square kilometers of land and 1,070 square kilometers of sea, it comprises 6 towns and 3 subdistricts, with a registered population of 518,000 and a permanent population of 688,000. Known as a prime agricultural region and celebrated as “Golden Pinghu,” the city thrives on its rich resources.
Serving as a vital link between Zhejiang and Shanghai, Pinghu leverages the Yangtze River Delta integration and Hongqiao International Open Hub development. It actively fosters complete integration with Shanghai and the wider Yangtze River Delta region. Capitalizing on its 27 kilometers of coastline and 58 kilometers of shared border with Shanghai, Pinghu is deepening collaboration across industrial development, science and technology, public services, and transportation infrastructure. Its ambition is to become a leading area for Yangtze River Delta integration and a key city within the Hongqiao southward expansion zone.

1、Automobile and Parts
This sector is a key industry for Pinghu, benefiting from its location and existing strengths. As a National Automobile and Parts Manufacturing Base, Pinghu boasts a diverse range of businesses, including foreign, state-owned, and domestic enterprises. Leading companies operate in universal joint, drive shaft, damper, and other chassis components, power motors, and automotive transmission and braking systems. In 2023, 95 enterprises with an output value exceeding RMB 20 million generated a combined output value of RMB 28.93 billion, representing 16.7% of the city’s total industrial output.
2、High-end New Materials
Another leading sector, Pinghu’s new materials industry has seen rapid investment growth and numerous project completions in recent years. Its focus on C3 and PTA industrial chains and the fine chemical sector significantly contributes to the city’s economic output. In 2023, 36 enterprises with an output value exceeding RMB 20 million achieved a combined output value of RMB 50.22 billion, accounting for 29.1% of the city’s total industrial output.
3、CNC Machine Tool
Pinghu is one of only two core areas for robot and CNC machine tool clusters in Zhejiang Province. Leveraging partnerships with leading Japanese and German companies, Pinghu has established a complete industrial chain encompassing complete machines, functional parts, fixtures, and cutting tools. By the end of 2023, 63 CNC machine tool and spare parts enterprises with an output value exceeding RMB 20 million generated an annual output value of RMB 11.02 billion, representing 6.4% of the city’s total industrial output.
4、Modern Logistics and Trade (Internet Services)
This leading service industry benefits from Pinghu’s unique sea-river intermodal shipping route in northern Zhejiang and major ports like Zhapu and Dushan. Key players such as JD.com, Seahonor Logistics, and Zhejiang Material Industry Chemical Group have established a presence here, with annual logistics and trade revenue exceeding RMB 42.5 billion. Pinghu aims to attract talent in digital trade, intelligent logistics, and internet-based production and life services.
5、 Fashion Creativity
This sector, focusing on apparel and luggage manufacturing, is a key industry for Pinghu. Known as “China’s Clothing Manufacturing City,” Pinghu’s clothing industry produces approximately 300 million garments annually. The luggage industry, established since the 1970s, boasts an annual production capacity of 120 million bags and holds the title of “China’s Luggage Manufacturing City.” In 2023, 134 enterprises with an output value exceeding RMB 20 million generated a combined output value of RMB 12.15 billion, accounting for 7.0% of the city’s total industrial output.
6、Aerospace and Aviation
Future development will focus on “integration of air and space, intelligent construction of Pinghu,” utilizing the Pinghu Economic-Technological Development Zone, Dushan, and Xindai Town as core platforms. Key areas of focus include commercial aerospace, low-altitude economy, commercial aircraft supporting manufacturing, processing manufacturing, and supporting services.
7、Life Health
This future key industry will concentrate on pharmaceuticals, chemicals, biotechnology, and medical equipment. Building upon existing high-end talent programs and strengths in the biomedical (food) industry, numerous projects are underway. In 2023, 14 enterprises with an output value exceeding RMB 20 million generated a combined output value of RMB 3.4 billion.
8、Software Information
This future key service industry leverages the Runze International Information Port, the largest computing infrastructure in the Yangtze River Delta region. With a computing power exceeding 70 PFLOPS, it will serve as a crucial data hub and support the development of the integrated digital industry in the Yangtze River Delta. The city seeks professionals in software development, integrated circuit design, and intelligent computing.
