SHENYANG, China, Dec. 11, 2024 — Shenyang launched its 2024-2025 Ice and Snow Season on December 8th at the Northeast Asia Ski Resort. The season, themed “Seeking Physical and Mental Pleasure from Sunlit Warmth Amidst Snow,” aims to boost Shenyang’s “Ice and Snow Economy,” invigorate winter tourism, and prepare for the 2028 15th National Winter Games.

Domestic and international visitors are invited to experience Shenyang’s accessible and affordable winter tourism offerings.

This initiative enhances Shenyang’s brand (“Shenyang, the place people yearn for”) and supports its development as a leading Northeast Asian city.

Shenyang Municipal Government officials unveiled a diverse program of over 300 winter activities categorized under six themes: Snow and Flower, Snow and Lantern, Snow and Passion, Snow and Friends, Snow and Slow Pace, and Ideal City for Playing with Snow.

To prepare for hosting the 2028 National Winter Games, Shenyang will leverage its extensive “snow and ice + sport and fitness” infrastructure. This includes hosting the Chinese Men’s Ice Hockey Professional League, National Youth Ski Challenge, and various events such as Ice Dragon Boat, Ice Sailing, an Ice and Fun Festival, and a Snow Village, all part of the 2024-2025 Shenyang Winter Sports Season.

A special lantern and temple festival during the 2025 Spring Festival will add to the festive atmosphere. Shenyang’s spas, restaurants, shopping areas, and markets will provide diverse opportunities for relaxation and enjoyment.

The event is hosted by the Shenyang Municipal People’s Government, organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Shenyang Municipal Committee, Shenyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio and Television, Shenyang Sports Bureau, and the Huinan District People’s Government, and supported by the Shenyang Qipan Mountain International Scenery and Tourism Development Zone Administration Committee, Shenyang Tourism Group Co., Ltd., and Northeast Asia Ski Resort.
