Shuangliu District Government and Shuangliu International Airport Secure 7.2 Billion Yuan in Investments at Airshow China
ZHUHAI, China, Nov. 15, 2024 — On November 12, coinciding with the inauguration of the 15th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, Shuangliu District People’s Government of Chengdu hosted a centralized signing ceremony at Booth No. H4A8, Hall 4 in the Aviation & Aerospace Gallery. This event saw the signing of 18 projects, representing a total investment of approximately 7.2 billion yuan.
Among the attendees were representatives from businesses in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Tianjin, Sichuan, and other regions specializing in commercial aerospace, green aviation fuel, airborne equipment, and small and medium-sized UAV launch and recovery systems. These representatives traveled to attend the ceremony and sign business contracts on-site.
“We have inked agreements for projects like the Large Aircraft Plateau Research Center, Western Fresh Port, and Andawell Airborne Equipment R&D and Manufacturing Project. These efforts have propelled the progress of 17 projects, including airport upgrades and transformations, as well as the construction of the Shunfeng Western Air Cargo Hub”, stated a representative from the Administrative Committee of Shuangliu Airport Economic Development Zone.
The exhibition marked the inaugural presence of a dedicated exhibition area for Shuangliu District, a collaborative effort between Shuangliu International Airport and the Shuangliu District People’s Government. This space showcased 23 key aviation and aerospace exhibits, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), CFM56 engine models, single crystal turbine blades, and ultra light engines. The display also included distinctive cultural and creative products from Shuangliu Airport Business District and Shuangliu International Airport.
“This is sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) refined by Sichuan Tianzhou International Trade Co., Ltd. (Sichuan Tianzhou) using kitchen waste oil collected from daily catering establishments as the raw material, which can be recycled and treated centrally before being transformed into SAF”, explained Chen Yu, the General Manager of Sichuan Tianzhou. Blending SAF with conventional petrochemical jet fuels can reduce carbon emissions throughout the entire life cycle of an aircraft, laying the groundwork for Shuangliu International Airport to actively participate in the green and low-carbon development of the civil aviation industry.
Leveraging its ports and air routes, Shuangliu has established a “convenient and efficient” hub. Currently, Shuangliu International Airport boasts a direct passenger route network and a network of 24 international cargo routes, providing direct connections to over 70 large and medium-sized cities in China. Additionally, Shuangliu houses 5 designated supervision sites for inbound air cargo (frozen aquatic products, edible aquatic animals, fruits, meat, and plant seedlings), 2 designated ports for imports (pharmaceuticals and biological products), and import functions for specialized goods like hazardous chemicals. The airport essentially achieves comprehensive coverage of airport functions in inland areas and is equipped to provide 7 × 24-hour customs clearance services. In 2023, Shuangliu District’s aviation industry output value reached 117.09 billion yuan, surpassing the 100-billion-yuan mark.
