Hebei Guangdian Film and Television Culture Co., Ltd. and Yanwen Film and Television Culture and Media Hebei Co. recently completed filming of their co-produced movie, “Soul Searching,” in Qian’an City, Hebei Province. The film will soon be released in cinemas nationwide.

The film follows Bai Fugui, a Great Wall protector, on a quest to find a ring hidden within a brick. His search unearths untold stories of heroism at the foot of the Great Wall, where soldiers and civilians defended their homeland. Through his journey, Bai Fugui discovers the true meaning of safeguarding the Wall. The movie highlights the lives and growth of individuals connected to the Great Wall, aiming to increase awareness of its history and the dedication of its protectors.

Writer and director Li Wei stated, “Truth is the driving force behind our work. Most of the film’s plot is based on real events.” He added a call to action: “Let’s work together to preserve the cultural legacy of the Great Wall and actively contribute to its protection.”

Hebei Province boasts over 2,000 kilometers of the Great Wall. It is often said that Hebei possesses the most stunning sections of the Wall. Notable Hebei sites include the Old Dragon’s Head, the “Most Beautiful Great Wall,” the underwater Great Wall, Shanhaiguan (“the world’s first pass”), the “upside down Great Wall,” and the Marble Great Wall.
