Southern Shaolin Martial Arts Exchange Conference Highlights Intangible Cultural Heritage
PUTIAN, China, July 03, 2024 — The Southern Shaolin Intangible Cultural Heritage Martial Arts Exchange Conference (the Conference) was held successfully at the Southern Shaolin Temple on Jiulian Mountain in Licheng District, Putian City, Fujian Province, China from June 29 to 30, 2024.
Over 300 martial arts masters, inheritors, and enthusiasts from 70 martial arts associations and groups representing Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Europe, the Americas, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania attended the event to experience the charm and grandeur of Chinese martial arts.
Through keynote speeches, the unveiling of martial arts preservation initiatives, exchanges, discussions, and cultural relic exhibitions, attendees engaged in in-depth discussions on the history, characteristics, inheritance, and development of Southern Shaolin martial arts.
The Conference also witnessed the announcement of the achievements made by Putian Southern Shaolin Temple in protecting endangered martial arts styles, the launch of the Initiative for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage Martial Arts, and the signing of the Southern Shaolin Martial Arts Protection Convention.
During the Conference, renowned martial arts groups from both domestic and international communities showcased more than 80 types of martial arts styles, captivating the audience with a series of spectacular visual displays. This Conference highlighted the profound and unique charm of Southern Shaolin Temple’s martial arts as an intangible cultural heritage, fostering exchange and interaction among martial arts enthusiasts from both within China and globally.
