Tims China’s “Timsgiving” Campaign Spreads Thanksgiving Cheer
Tims China’s inaugural “Timsgiving” campaign, held last week, fostered a spirit of Thanksgiving across its nationwide coffee shops.
Yongchen Lu, CEO of Tims China, stated that the “Timsgiving” pay-it-forward initiative, a Tim Hortons tradition, encouraged customers to share free coffee. The campaign resulted in 1,500 instances of customers gifting coffee, with the longest chain reaching 30 people. Lu expressed hope that this initiative created heartwarming moments and inspired widespread goodwill.
At a Tims store near Central China Normal University, a student, after learning about the campaign and receiving a free latte, continued the chain. She observed numerous subsequent customers participating, extending the act of kindness.
This student subsequently shared her positive experience on Xiaohongshu, describing the kindness encountered and expressing a wish for others to experience similar warmth.

Numerous customers shared their experiences online, including messages such as:
- A message offering a Red Tea Latte with well wishes.
- A message leaving a note of encouragement on a cup.
- An observation on the heartwarming impact of such small acts of kindness.
- A message comparing kindness to the lingering fragrance of a rose.
Making its debut in China, the campaign ran from November 26th to 28th. Participating stores offered a free Double Series beverage to the first customer, who could then purchase a coffee for the next customer.
Three designated Timsgiving stores offered an additional promotion: Tims loyalty members received a free Double Series beverage (up to 100 daily, first-come, first-served).
The “Timsgiving” campaign spread holiday cheer from Harbin to Haikou, involving thousands of participants in a widespread display of kindness.
