HANGZHOU, China, March 14, 2025 — Westlake University is now accepting applications for its 2025 Summer Research Internship program. The online application portal is open from March 11th to April 14th, 2025. Approximately 100 internships are available across 64 world-class laboratories at Westlake. The program runs from July 14th to August 22nd, 2025, offering international students the chance to participate in cutting-edge research, join a thriving academic community, and contribute to scientific progress.

A Multidisciplinary Research Experience

The Westlake Summer Research Internship includes opportunities within four schools:

• School of Science
• School of Engineering
• School of Life Sciences
• School of Medicine

Interns will be fully integrated into research teams, working under the guidance of leading scientists. The program promotes collaboration and an interdisciplinary approach, providing interns with broad exposure to diverse scientific viewpoints.

Beyond laboratory work, interns will participate in research forums, interdisciplinary discussions, and cultural events, fostering engagement with their research and the Hangzhou community.

Research Opportunities and Hands-On Learning

This year’s internships cover a range of research areas, including theoretical and computational chemistry; quantitative biology, complex systems, and AI; nanotechnology; microbiome engineering and quantitative biology; reinforcement learning and robot embodied intelligence; biochips and biosensors; micro-nano robots; biocatalysis (Artificial Intelligence in biotechnology); statistical genetics and genomics; neurotechnologies; and more. These hands-on internships aim to develop research skills and prepare participants for advanced academic and professional endeavors.

Eligibility and Application Timeline

The program welcomes applications from non-PRC citizens with a valid passport who meet either of these criteria:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program, expecting to graduate in 2026 or 2027.
• Already possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree.

The application window is open from March 11th, 2025, at 12:00 PM to April 14th, 2025, at 12:00 PM (Chinese Standard Time).
