Wuxi Hosts 16th International Renewable Energy Exhibition “`
The 16th Wuxi International Renewable Energy Exhibition opened Wednesday, attracting international attendees from 16 countries and regions, along with representatives from new energy firms, industry groups, and academic institutions.
Wuxi City, in eastern China, is cultivating itself as a new energy equipment hub. The city’s strategic initiatives include two three-year action plans focusing on new energy and hydrogen energy storage. These efforts have fostered 21 publicly listed new energy companies and 43 specialized small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). From January to October 2024, large-scale new energy enterprises in Wuxi generated an industrial output value of 191.47 billion yuan and revenue of 148.93 billion yuan. The city anticipates exceeding 200 billion yuan in total output by year’s end.
Wuxi Mayor Zhao Jianjun announced plans to further diversify the city’s new energy development, emphasizing an “industry cluster + characteristic park” model across five key areas: wind, solar, hydrogen, storage, and vehicles. This approach aims to leverage unique strengths to build a comprehensive and competitive new energy industry center. Furthermore, the city will enhance cross-sector collaboration, integrating new energy with sectors such as the Internet of Things, integrated circuits, low-altitude economy, and artificial intelligence to create a streamlined and collaborative industrial ecosystem.
The opening ceremony featured the signing of 27 key projects totaling 17.705 billion yuan in investment. The exhibition expects to secure over 60 projects with a combined investment exceeding 30 billion yuan. These projects encompass industrial park development, headquarters construction, new product R&D and manufacturing, industrial support, and application demonstration and promotion.
The event includes exhibitions, concurrent conferences, and numerous industry networking opportunities. The exhibition area covers 20,000 square meters, showcasing the latest products and technologies from 105 leading companies. New product unveilings include “charge-free” solar-powered vehicles, electric semi-trailer trucks, and mobile electric vehicle charging robots.
