A 21-year-old has been arrested by British police in connection with a “suspicious” fire at the London home of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, according to reports.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, one day after a fire damaged the door of the house on Monday morning. Starmer and his family lived at the residence before he became Prime Minister, the Associated Press reports.

The Metropolitan Police stated that officers from their Command are leading the investigation due to the property’s previous connection to a high-profile public figure. The police added that inquiries are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

Police have stated that the arrest is also connected to two other potentially related fires: a vehicle fire near Starmer’s home on Sunday, and a door fire on May 8 at a property in another part of north London. The second property, a converted house with apartments, also has ties to Starmer.

The Met Police stated that all three fires are being treated as suspicious, and investigations are ongoing.

No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.

Starmer and his family currently reside at the Prime Minister’s official residence on Downing Street, as he took office in July.

Neighbor Charles Grant told the AP that police searched his yard on Monday and said they were looking for a projectile.

He added that he gathered from others that someone threw a firebomb at Keir Starmer’s house.

Opposition leader Kemi Badenoch called it a “shocking incident.”

She posted on X that no one should face these sorts of threats, especially those in public service, calling it an attack on democracy that must never be tolerated.

Starmer’s house has been the site of past protests. Last year, the AP reported that three pro-Palestinian activists were arrested and charged with public order offenses after displaying a banner covered in red handprints outside the building.
