Danish PM Echoes Vance, Calling Mass Migration a Threat to European Daily Life

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has expressed agreement with Vice President JD Vance’s recent assessment that mass migration into Europe poses a significant challenge.

Frederiksen voiced her concurrence during an interview published on Thursday, emphasizing the need for Europe to curb the influx of foreign migrants.

“I view this mass migration into Europe as a threat to everyday life in Europe,” Frederiksen stated, echoing sentiments similar to those expressed at the Munich Security Conference in Germany.

Frederiksen’s stance is reflected in her administration’s policies, which have built upon existing anti-migrant measures. According to Politico, Denmark now seizes valuables from migrants to offset housing costs, and the country’s “No Ghetto” laws aim to prevent the concentration of migrants in specific neighborhoods.

“I strongly believe in equal opportunities and a Scandinavian welfare model funded by taxes, providing education, social benefits, and healthcare. However, for me, this is just one traditional aspect of being a social democrat,” she told Politico.

“Controlling migration is the other essential aspect,” she added.

Vance’s Munich speech served as a general warning to Europe from the administration, cautioning leaders across the continent against abandoning traditional values and suppressing dissenting opinions.

“The threat that concerns me most regarding Europe is not China or any other external actor,” Vance stated at the time. “My concern lies in the internal threat of Europe retreating from its core values, values shared with the United States of America.”

Vance further cited efforts in Romania and Germany to impede the rise of anti-migrant movements.

“The crisis facing this continent, the crisis I believe we all face together, is self-inflicted. If you are governed by fear of your own voters, there is nothing America can do to assist you,” Vance concluded.
