Evangelical Leaders Voice Support for Trump’s Stance on Israel Amid Conflict with Iran

Leading evangelical figures in the U.S. have voiced their conviction to Digital that President Donald Trump remains a steadfast supporter of Israel amidst its conflict with Iran.

Before and after Israel’s military actions, these leaders emphasized the longstanding historical connection between the Jewish people and their homeland. They also highlighted the shared values based on biblical principles.

Dr. Mike Evans, founder of Friends of Zion, told Digital that the evangelical community, which played a key role in President ‘s election, expects his administration to uphold Israel’s biblical claim to Judea and Samaria.

“We are firm in this belief. President Trump owes his victory to the evangelical vote. We represent 52 million Americans who adhere to the Bible,” he stated. “Jesus said, ‘You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria.'” His organization claims a membership of nearly 30 million.

Evans lauded the president’s Iran strategy, stating, “The Trump approach is clever because it offers Iran a way out, but it does not eliminate the possibility of U.S. military action. On the contrary, he has made it clear that any attack on U.S. bases or personnel in the Middle East will be met with severe consequences.”

, founder and chairman of Christians United for Israel, representing 10 million members, told Digital that American evangelicals have long prioritized Israel, a focus that has intensified since 9/11 and, more recently, the Hamas massacre on Oct. 7. He stated that evangelical support for Israel stems from religious conviction, not political ideology. They view appeasing Iran or engaging with terrorists as not only poor policy but also morally reprehensible and fundamentally evil.

Days before Israel’s preemptive strike against Iran, and facing isolationist critiques of Israel, Hagee told Digital, “I do not believe President Trump will be manipulated by Iranian negotiators or American isolationists. Ultimately, I believe President Trump is prepared to take necessary measures to ensure Iran is neutralized, either by empowering our strongest ally, Israel, to defend itself or through other means.”

Following Israel’s surprise attack on Iran, Hagee released a recorded message as an action alert, urging supporters to contact President Trump, express gratitude for his support of Israel, and encourage its continuation.

“We must support Israel consistently. Iran’s future as a destructive force in the Middle East is now uncertain. Only the Iranian people can reclaim their country. However, Israel has created an opportunity for them and provided the world with some relief. Now, the U.S. must assume a leading role internationally and stand with the only American ally in the free world willing to take the necessary steps to protect it,” Hagee said.

, president of and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, addressed the growing Iranian threat to both Israel and the United States on X.

“Iran has stated its desire to eradicate Israel. They also seek to destroy America. Iran supports terrorism… Israel has been compelled to defend itself and requires our prayers,” he added. “All believers in the Lord Jesus Christ should ‘Pray for the peace of Jerusalem’ (Psalm 122:6). Pray for a swift resolution.”

Graham emphasized the enduring connection between the Jewish people and their historical homeland, as well as the shared values grounded in biblical teachings.

“Most evangelical Christians believe in the Bible, including Genesis, where God granted the land to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We believe every inch of that land belongs to the Jews,” Graham told Digital.

He stressed the importance of ongoing U.S. support for Israel, citing both strategic and democratic reasons.

“The U.S. government has backed Israel since its inception, and this support must continue. It’s the only democracy in the Middle East, the only place with elections. Israelis enjoy freedoms unmatched elsewhere in that region,” Graham said.

Evans, also referencing scripture, noted, “In Genesis 12, God said, ‘I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you.’ Evangelicals believe pressuring Israel to cede land will bring a curse on America. They will always prioritize God’s word over any other consideration,” he said.

Hagee also cited biblical teachings that promise blessings for those who bless Israel, presenting this as both a spiritual conviction and a practical reality.

“Consider the undeniable benefits—from intelligence and technology sharing to fighting in the global war on terror, America has been blessed through its support of Israel. Abandoning Israel would not only result in God turning His back on America, but we would also lose freedom’s foothold in the Middle East,” he told Digital.

Hagee pointed out that the issue has become deeply personal for many in the United States, especially given recent antisemitic attacks on American soil. These include the incident in Colorado, where an illegal Egyptian immigrant injured 15 people with Molotov cocktails during a march supporting hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, as well as the fatal shooting outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., which resulted in the deaths of two Israeli Embassy staff members.

“We expect Congress to enact meaningful legislation to combat the surge of violent antisemitism across the country,” Hagee said.

He criticized the political delays surrounding the Antisemitism Awareness Act and the lack of progress on the Countering Hate Against Israel by Federal Contractors Act, which would prevent federal agencies from working with companies that support boycotting Israel.

“That Congress continues to hesitate is shameful,” Hagee stated.

Evans told Digital that the Trump administration also appears to be actively addressing an attempt to push for the recognition of a Palestinian state.

“We’re not overly concerned, because we know the president will oppose this move at the U.N. Security Council,” he said. “The United States will not back a Palestinian state at this time, as the entire premise of statehood has been based on land-for-peace—a concept that assumes Israel can secure peace by relinquishing territory. But Israelis have given up land and lost lives in the process, and it hasn’t worked.”

“Israel is facing an existential threat and can no longer capitulate or play the land-for-peace game. Palestinians can lead a better life, as we’ve seen with Israeli Arabs, who have a better quality of life in Israel than anywhere else in the Middle East,” Evans continued. “The only way forward is if they stop resorting to terrorism, and we believe the president supports this position of moral clarity, as do all Evangelicals.”
