Flood-Lost Cow Found Alive, Mooing on Beach Miles From Home

Amidst the destructive floods in , a remarkable story of survival has surfaced: a cow, carried away by powerful floodwaters, was discovered alive on Old Bar Beach, about 11 miles away from its farm in Taree, New South Wales.

Layla Philipson located the animal on the beach and posted pictures on the Taree Community Noticeboard Facebook page, which facilitated the cow’s return to its owner.

“Alive cow Oldbar beach between Wallabi and meridian,” the post stated.

This event unfolded during widespread throughout New South Wales. 

An unhurried low-pressure system has caused unprecedented rainfall, with some regions experiencing more than 27 inches of precipitation.

The heavy rainfall has tragically led to five confirmed fatalities, left around 50,000 individuals isolated, and damaged approximately 10,000 homes.

The Manning River, which runs through Taree, swelled to levels unseen in almost a century, leading to the displacement of both animals and people. 

According to , emergency responders have carried out over 700 rescues, and efforts are ongoing to support impacted communities.

While this cow’s tale offers a moment of lightness, the overall situation remains critical.

Authorities are advising residents to stay alert, as floodwaters remain high and further weather-related difficulties are anticipated.
