Hamas announced Saturday that it has agreed to free ten living hostages currently held by the organization and return the remains of 18 deceased hostages.

The group stated that the release is contingent upon the release of a specified number of Palestinian prisoners.

Hamas attributed the agreement to a proposal put forth by U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.

“According to the agreement, ten living captives held by the resistance will be freed, along with the return of 18 bodies, in return for a pre-determined quantity of Palestinian prisoners,” Hamas stated.
