Herzog: Israel Isn’t Trying to Involve US in Iran Conflict

President Isaac Herzog has denied that Israel is attempting to involve the U.S. in a conflict with Iran. This statement comes amid rising concerns about a wider regional conflict, following a U.S. strike on three Iranian nuclear facilities on Saturday.

Herzog addressed these concerns on CNN’s “State of the Union,” hosted by Kasie Hunt, responding to the President’s move to use bunker-buster bombs and Tomahawk missiles against key Iranian nuclear sites like Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

Herzog stated, “We have consistently made it clear that we are not pulling America into a war. We are deferring to the decision of the U.S. President and his team, as it pertains to America’s national security interests. We do not intend, nor do we request, that America go to war now because the Iranians are threatening Israel.”

The further commented that the U.S. decision to target Iran’s nuclear infrastructure was “the right step” for the U.S., characterizing the Iranian nuclear program as a threat to both American and global security.

“The decision was made because the Iranian nuclear program posed a clear and present danger to the security interests of the entire free world, particularly the leader of the free world,” Herzog added. “America, as the leader of the free world, was indeed at risk from this program, which is why it was the appropriate action to take.”

Despite the U.S. military intervention, Herzog emphasized the importance of diplomacy at this time. He urged that any future negotiations be “detailed and unambiguous,” referring to past failed talks due to what he claimed were constant lies from the Iranians.

Secretary of State echoed Herzog’s message on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo, asserting that the U.S. is “not at war” with Iran.

Rubio added that regime change is “not the goal” and that Washington continues to offer a diplomatic path forward.
