Reports indicate that over 60 people were injured, some critically, in a drone attack in Binyamina, Israel. The Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Israeli media reported that two drones were launched from Lebanon, one of which was intercepted.

It is not yet clear who was injured – whether military personnel or civilians – or what was targeted.

On Thursday, Israel conducted two airstrikes in Beirut that resulted in the deaths of 22 people. Hezbollah stated that it was retaliating for these strikes by targeting an Israeli military training camp.

This marks the second drone strike on Israel in two days.

On Sunday, as Israelis celebrated Yom Kippur, a drone strike occurred in a Tel Aviv suburb, causing damage but no injuries.

Iran and its proxy terrorist groups launched massive waves of missiles against Israel in April of this year. The Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system was previously deployed to Israel in 2019, but only for exercises.

Sunday’s strike coincided with the U.S. announcement that it would be sending a new air-defense system to Israel to enhance protection from missiles.

“The THAAD Battery will augment Israel’s integrated air defense system. This action underscores the United States’ ironclad commitment to the defense of Israel, and to defend Americans in Israel, from any further ballistic missile attacks by Iran. It is part of the broader adjustments the U.S. military has made in recent months, to support the defense of Israel and protect Americans from attacks by Iran and ,” the Pentagon said in a statement.

Iran’s massive missile barrage on October 1st highlighted the threat Iran poses to Israel as a regional power. While debris from hundreds of rockets and missiles rained down on Israeli territory, no Israeli fatalities were reported.
