Hostage’s Wife Urges Holiday Release: ‘We Need Them Back’ “`
FIRST ON FOX – Aviva Siegel, Keith Siegel’s wife and a former hostage herself, is urgently appealing for her husband’s and the other hostages’ release from Hamas captivity after over 440 days in harsh conditions.
Referring to an April Hamas video, Aviva described her husband’s appearance as severely deteriorated, expressing profound concern for his well-being given the time elapsed since the video.
She emphasized the dire conditions all hostages endure, drawing on her own experience of captivity, highlighting the desperation and suffering they face.
Aviva and her husband, then married for 42 years, were abducted from their home and held for 51 days before her release in November 2023. Since then, she’s actively campaigned for Keith’s release, engaging with high-level US and Israeli officials.
She expressed hope for Keith’s resilience and his ability to support fellow hostages, recalling his strength during their shared ordeal.
Recounting their last conversation before her release, Aviva shared her encouragement for Keith to remain strong.
US, Egyptian, and Qatari officials are pressing for a ceasefire and hostage release. Negotiations reportedly focus on a potential 42-day truce for a prisoner exchange.
Hamas is also believed to hold additional hostages, with reports of deaths in captivity.
While all hostages reportedly suffer inhumane conditions, priority for release is reportedly given to children, women, the sick, and the elderly.
Aviva maintains hope, longing to reunite with Keith and celebrate with the other families upon their loved ones’ return.
Aviva envisions the joyous reunion with her husband and grandchildren, expressing the immense happiness this would bring to all families involved.
Recent reports suggest increased optimism, but Secretary of State Antony Blinken cautioned against premature celebration, emphasizing the need for Hamas to commit to a solution.
Blinken highlighted the pressure on Hamas to act, acknowledging past setbacks in negotiations and emphasizing the ongoing efforts to secure the hostages’ release.
