Iran Charges Two British Nationals with Espionage

Iranian authorities have charged two British nationals, Craig and Lindsay Foreman, with espionage, according to a report from the Mizan news agency. The agency stated that the couple, who entered Iran as tourists, allegedly gathered intelligence across multiple Iranian provinces.

The Foremans’ family has confirmed their detention and is working with officials to secure their release and safe return.

Mizan, quoting a judicial official, alleges a connection between the detainees and foreign intelligence services, adding that the investigation into these alleged links is ongoing.

The British Foreign Office expressed deep concern, stating they are providing consular support to the Foremans and maintaining contact with their family.

This follows a pattern of arrests of foreigners and dual nationals in Iran, many on espionage or security charges. While Iran denies these accusations, human rights groups and some governments allege these arrests are used as leverage in international negotiations.
