Although officials from both Washington and Tehran have voiced optimism, numerous technical aspects remain unresolved, including specifics about uranium enrichment and stockpile limits, even though The United States and Iran have concluded some discussions about Iran’s nuclear program.
Iran insists on continuing uranium enrichment for civilian and research applications, a stance challenged by the Trump administration’s call for a complete halt to enrichment. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi addressed the current situation over the weekend, noting that Iran has yet to receive a formal written proposal from the United States regarding any potential agreement.
Ataghchi posted on X, “Let me be clear: Iran will not relinquish its right to enrichment for peaceful purposes, a right also granted to all other signatories of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.”
In an interview with , Trump discussed the ongoing discussions with Iran, suggesting potential trade opportunities if a deal is reached.
“Iran is interested in trading with us,” Trump told Bret Baier, “and I am open to that.”
Trump recently concluded a four-day tour of the Gulf, advocating for further normalization agreements and a deal with Iran. A U.S. agreement is anticipated to provide Iran with much-needed relief from sanctions.
“I’ve told Iran, if we reach an agreement,” Trump stated, “you will be very pleased.”
