The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced the destruction of Hezbollah’s largest precision-guided missile manufacturing facility, a sprawling underground complex, as a Hezbollah lawmaker vowed the group would resist any attacks on Lebanon.

This announcement follows ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, now in its third day. The current phase of a 60-day agreement requires Hezbollah and Israeli forces to withdraw from southern Lebanon, with the Lebanese army taking over.

“Hezbollah’s main precision-guided missile production facility, measuring 1.4km wide and extending 70m underground, was targeted and dismantled by IAF fighter jets,” the IDF reported.

The IDF statement specified that the site, located near the Syrian-Lebanese border, produced precision-guided missiles and surface-to-surface missiles, key components of Hezbollah’s arsenal.

Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah stated that the group would cooperate with the Lebanese army in implementing the ceasefire, but emphasized Hezbollah’s continued role in defending Lebanon against Israel, a capability he claimed the army lacked. He asserted Hezbollah’s right to resist any Israeli aggression.

“Can we simply watch if Israel attacks?” Fadlallah questioned. “When Israel attacks our nation, we will fight back. This is our right.”

Since 2019, the Lebanese army has faced challenges due to the country’s financial crisis, with soldiers forced to take on additional jobs. Despite this, the agreement aims to bolster the Lebanese army with an additional 10,000 troops deployed south of the Litani River.

An international donor conference in Paris pledged $1 billion in aid, including $800 million for humanitarian aid and $200 million for the army. However, aid organizations report that these funds have yet to be disbursed.

The IDF continues to warn Lebanese civilians to avoid a border region where Israeli troops remain following an October ground operation.

“The IDF does not intend to harm you; therefore, you are currently prohibited from returning to your homes south of this line until further notice,” IDF Arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee posted on X, specifying the area along the Israel-Lebanon border.

“Anyone who crosses south of this line puts themselves in danger,” he added.
