Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, announced Wednesday that Israeli forces have killed Mohammed Sinwar, a high-ranking Hamas official.

Netanyahu revealed this information in an address to the Knesset, Israel’s parliament. Previously, the Israeli Prime Minister had only stated that the Hamas leader had “apparently” been killed.

Mohammed Sinwar was a high-priority target for Israel and the younger brother of the deceased leader of the group.

He was the intended target of an Israeli attack on a hospital in southern Gaza earlier in May, and on May 21, Netanyahu stated that his death was probable.
