Netanyahu Undergoes Successful Prostate Surgery
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu successfully underwent prostate surgery on Sunday, this news outlet has learned.
The procedure, a prostatectomy, followed a urinary tract infection stemming from benign prostatic hyperplasia, according to Netanyahu’s office.
Netanyahu’s office reported the surgery’s successful completion without complications.
A statement translated from Hebrew indicated the Prime Minister awoke post-anesthesia in good condition and fully conscious. He’s been moved to a secure recovery unit and will remain hospitalized for observation.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to his surgical team.
Netanyahu has undergone several medical procedures in the past two years. In March, he underwent surgery under general anesthesia, necessitating Deputy Prime Minister Yariv Levin’s temporary leadership.
Months before the October 7th attacks, Netanyahu experienced dehydration and was hospitalized in July 2023. He attributed this to insufficient hydration and sun protection during a visit to the Sea of Galilee.
A week after his dehydration hospitalization, he received a pacemaker to regulate his heart rate and rhythm.
Netanyahu, then 73, explained the necessity of the pacemaker following a device alert. He stated he felt well but needed to heed medical advice.
This latest operation occurs as the 75-year-old politician testifies in an ongoing corruption case. His testimony began in December and is expected to continue into the new year.
Netanyahu concurrently leads the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in multiple ongoing conflicts, targeting Iranian terrorists and proxies.
Recent IDF strikes targeted Yemen, including Sanaa International Airport and Houthi infrastructure in Al-Hudaydah, Salif, and Ras Kanatib ports.
