Trudeau Affirms Feminism Following Harris’ Presidential Loss
At an Equal Voice gala in Ottawa—an organization dedicated to increasing women’s representation in Canadian politics—Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reaffirmed his commitment to feminism, expressing disappointment over Vice President Harris’s loss in the 2024 U.S. presidential election as a setback for women’s advancement.
Trudeau acknowledged the challenges to women’s progress, stating that despite aiming for steady improvement, the U.S. election result was a significant step back.
“Everywhere, women’s rights and women’s progress is under attack, overtly and subtly,” he remarked, emphasizing his unwavering support for feminist ideals and assuring continued government backing.
These comments follow heightened tensions between the U.S. and Canada regarding immigration and drug trafficking.
Following Trump’s threat to impose tariffs on Canadian goods, Trudeau made an unannounced visit to Mar-a-Lago on November 29th.
Both leaders described the meeting as “very productive.”
However, sources revealed that Trudeau argued against the tariffs, emphasizing their devastating potential for the Canadian economy. Trump reportedly countered by questioning Canada’s economic practices.
Sources further indicated that Trump suggested Canada become a U.S. state, prompting nervous laughter from Trudeau and others.
