FIRST ON FOX: Speaking exclusively to Digital at the Jerusalem Post Conference in New York, the Special Envoy for Hostage Response refuted a Washington Post story alleging President Trump threatened to withdraw support for Israel unless the war concluded, labeling it “fake news.”

“That seems inaccurate,” he stated. “The President has consistently shown strong support for Israel.” He continued, “While he might urge a swift end to the conflict and express himself forcefully, the backing of the American President, particularly President Trump, for Israel is unwavering.”

Separately, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee also dismissed the report, telling “Their reporting is incorrect. They should pay attention to the President’s words, not the claims of uninformed ‘sources.'”

Boehler emphasized that the U.S. government’s top priority is securing the release of the 58 hostages still held by Hamas. “Negotiations are ongoing. The President has clearly stated his desire for a resolution.”

“I know that he and Steve [Witkoff] are working diligently to achieve that goal. The situation is constantly evolving, but our primary focus remains the hostages and Israel’s security,” he said.

Regarding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Boehler mentioned the recent opening of borders to allow aid trucks after a two-month blockade. He also discussed the potential for a new U.S.-backed mechanism to replace the Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

“A replacement for UNRWA may be necessary, given our numerous concerns with the U.N. If this new mechanism effectively delivers food to Palestinians in need, I fully support it,” Boehler stated.

During an on-stage interview at the Jerusalem Post conference, Boehler recounted the anxious period surrounding the release of American-Israeli soldier . “It was an incredible moment. We barely slept that Sunday. It was both exciting and nerve-wracking. We were constantly waiting for Steve Witkoff and the Red Cross. We watched the helicopter landing on TV. That first phone call was amazing. It happened right on Mother’s Day, which added significance for me, Steve, and everyone involved.”

Concerning the timeline for a hostage deal, Boehler expressed cautious optimism: “I believe we are nearing a deal. If Hamas is willing to present a genuine offer and release hostages, we are always open to that.”

He also attributed the increased pressure on Hamas to the recent Israeli ground operations, saying, “I think we are closer than ever before, partly due to Israel and the IDF’s actions on the ground.”

Finally, addressing the recent joint statement from the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Canada, which criticized Israel’s military actions in Gaza and called for an immediate ceasefire, Boehler responded resolutely. “The United States has consistently been a strong supporter of Israel. European countries should be particularly cautious when criticizing Israel.”
