A Hamas gunman opened fire on an Israeli bus in the West Bank on Friday, injuring eight people, including four Israeli soldiers, according to reports.

The attack, near the Ariel settlement, concluded with the assailant, identified by Hamas as 46-year-old Samer Hussein, being killed by Israeli forces.

“Four IDF soldiers sustained light injuries in the shooting attack and were transported to a hospital for treatment,” the Israel Defense Forces stated, adding that “an armed terrorist fired upon an Israeli bus at the Gitti Avisar Junction, causing injuries and damage.”

Images and videos from the scene showed multiple bullet holes in the bus’s windshield and a severely damaged vehicle nearby.

The Israeli military reported that “IDF soldiers eliminated the terrorist at the scene.”

Hamas’s armed wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, claimed responsibility for the attack, confirming the assailant’s affiliation.

Separately, on Friday, three Palestinians—two girls and a woman—died in a stampede at a Gaza Strip bakery.

The bodies of the two girls, aged 13 and 17, and the 50-year-old woman were transported to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah. A doctor confirmed their deaths were due to suffocation from overcrowding at the al-Banna bakery, according to the Associated Press.

Reportedly, food prices in the Gaza Strip have skyrocketed, despite the arrival of nearly 100 UN aid trucks from Israel.

A woman in Deir al-Balah told the Associated Press last week that the price of flour has risen to over $100 a bag, if available at all.
