Woman Arrested After Stabbing Spree at German Train Station; Major Police Operation Underway
A number of individuals sustained injuries, some critical, after a woman allegedly used a knife to attack travelers at a German train station on Friday.
The 39-year-old suspect, whose identity has not been released, was apprehended shortly after the incident without resistance, as announced on X.
Authorities believe the woman acted alone, but her motivation remains unclear.
“The investigation into the circumstances is fully underway,” police stated.
The incident occurred in the late afternoon inside the station, on the platform between tracks 13 and 14, according to reports from the Associated Press.
Hamburg’s fire service reported that six people were wounded, with three suffering serious injuries and three others sustaining minor injuries, according to the German news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur.
However, police later clarified that the exact number was uncertain, only confirming that “several” individuals had life-threatening injuries, according to the AP.
The state-owned railway company Deutsche Bahn expressed their “deep sadness” regarding the on X.
Tracks 11 to 14 at the main station were closed, and delays and diversions were announced for long-distance trains.
“We are providing full support to the authorities in their on-site investigations,” Deutsche Bahn stated in a post.
