Bacolod Council approves 36 ordinances, 951 resolutions

A TOTAL of 36 ordinances and 951 resolutions were approved by the Bacolod City Council from January to December 31, 2020.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said Monday, January 18, that most of the approved ordinances were authored by Councilor Archie Baribar, chairperson of committee on urban planning and development and general services, committee on senior citizens and veterans affairs, and committee on energy and public utilities, with the total of nine.

Councilor Cindy Rojas, chairperson of the committee on appropriation and finance, and committee on health and sanitation, authored seven ordinances.

Councilors Al Victor Espino (chairperson of committee on information and

communication technology; committee on police matters, peace and order,

and illegal drugs; and committee on ways and means) and Dindo Ramos (chairperson of committee on laws, ordinances and good government;

committee on fisheries and aquatic resources; and committee on

transportation and traffic) authored six ordinances each.

Councilor Renecito Novero, a floor leader and chairperson of committee on education; committee in urban poor, housing and resettlement; and committee on trade, commerce and industry, authored a total of three ordinances.

Councilor Lady Gles Gonzales, chairperson of committee on barangay affairs, authored two ordinances, while Councilors Wilson Gamboa Jr., chairperson of committee on history, culture and arts, and committee on human rights, and Bartolome Orola authored one ordinance each.

The City Council also approved a total of 18 appropriation ordinance, which was authored by Rojas.

Ramos also topped the most number of resolutions approved with the total of 272, followed by Rojas, 170; Espino, 170; Baribar, 82; Novero, 68; Councilor Ann Marie Palermo, chairperson of committee on social services and development; committee on women and gender; and committee on labor, management relations and overseas workers, 49 resolutions.

Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez, chairperson of committee on environment and ecology, and committee on agriculture and agrarian concerns, authored a total of 39 resolutions; Councilor Simplicia Distrito, chairperson of committee on family and child care development and committee on human resource development, 31; Gamboa, 24.

Councilor Israel Salanga, chairperson of committee on tourism and local, national and international cooperation, and committee on cooperatives and livelihood programs, authored a total of 18 resolutions; Orola, 17; Councilor Ayesha Marie Villaflor, chairperson of committee on youth, Sangguniang Kabataan Affairs and Sports Development, 10; and Councilor Elmer Sy, chairperson of committee on public works and committee on fire, natural disasters and calamities, six resolutions.

The City Council also approved unanimously 32 resolutions.
