A COMPANY team-building event at a resort in Sipalay City in Negros Occidental turned deadly after two individuals shot one another over the weekend.

Police identified the two fatalities as Fernando Silanga, 46, a resident of Lower Bicutan, Taguig City, Metro Manila; and Garry Labrador, a resident of Barangay Ma-ao, Bago City.

Police Major James Latayon, Jr., acting chief of police of Sipalay City, said Silanga was singing in a videoke when he had an altercation with Labrador.

Labrador then pulled out a gun and shot Silanga. Despite the fatal gunshot wound, Silanga managed to retaliate by also drawing his own firearm and shot Labrador, killing him on the spot.

Silanga was later rushed to the Sipalay City Infirmary but he was declared dead by the attending physician.

Police recovered several empty .45 caliber and 9mm cartridges at the crime scene.

Sipalay police are still investigating the incident, although they believe that past grudges between Silanga and Labrador may have been the cause of the incident.
