Expanding NOCHP in Bacolod City pushed

PROVINCIAL Economic Consultant and Bacolod City mayoralty candidate Alfredo “Albee” Benitez is planning to bring the Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Program (NOCHP) to province’s capital city.NOCHP has been a success in the province, Benitez said, stressing that health is important and that every local government unit should have access to the program.Since it is already mandated under the law, they will collaborate with the private hospitals in Bacolod City to allocate 10 percent of their respective bed capacities for the zero-balance program for poor patients in the highly urbanized city of Bacolod, he said.The initiative will be called the Bacolod Health Program (BACHP), he also said, emphasizing that health programs of the City and Provincial Government should be collaborative.Meanwhile, the Milk Bank at Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Silay City, which was materialized with the help of the Rotary Club of Metro Bacolod, was inaugurated Tuesday, March 29, 2022.”We were talking about what is the best thing to do to sustain it (because) there is a wide market access to human milk,” Benitez said.Dr. Mary Ann Maestral, Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital chief, said the Milk Bank has been a dream for 10 years.“There are mothers who have enough milk and there are also several mothers who don’t have enough milk,” Maestral said.With the milk bank they will be able to help each other and will also be beneficial especially for premature babies to ensure their survival, she added.
