AFTER being postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic for quite some time, Himamaylanons have once again enjoyed the initial phase of the celebration of the city’s Charter Day through the commencement of the yearly “Himaya Festival.”The local government of Himamaylan, led by Mayor Rogelio Raymund Tongson Jr., gave the people the chance to party in front of the city hall recently with several artists performing.Among those artists who graced the occasion were Bamboo Mañalac, Kudos Loves 80s band, Nextone band, Niko Badayos and Yukii Takashi performed during the Himaya festival event.The famous December Avenue will also perform in the coming Himaya festival this April.Himalayan City’s Himaya festival falls from April 14 to 25, and the activities held on March 31 are considered a prelude to the grand celebration.Highlighting the event is the holding of the Himaya Queen 2022, where 20 ladies vie for the coveted crown.Tongson said that this was just the start of the series of fun and enjoyment for the people of Himamaylan.“We will put up our next celebration at the public plaza to accommodate more guests,” he said.The Headrush of Mr. Ryan Saez was instrumental in the production of the Himaya 2022.Himaya (Glory) Festival is celebrated in thanksgiving for the gift of Cityhood and the prosperity and progress that comes with it.
