A MEMBER of the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) in Negros Occidental was arrested after he allegedly raped a minor in Cadiz City Tuesday, July 17, 2021.

Police have refused to identify both the suspect and the victim, although they affirmed that the suspect was a police staff sergeant.

Based on a statement given by the victim’s aunt, around 4 a.m. Tuesday, the suspect went home in Barangay Tinampaan, Cadiz City where the suspect’s live-in partner resides.

The suspect then proceeded to the room of his live-in partner’s daughter and started sexually assaulting the victim.

The victim’s aunt said they heard the commotion unfold as she was talking with the victim’s mother after the minor kicked the suspect and managed to escape out of the room.

The suspect was later arrested by his fellow cops from the Cadiz City Police Station.

The victim’s biological father and mother are determined to file criminal charges against the suspect.

Aside from the rape charge, the suspect may also face additional administrative charges after it was also learned that he has a legal wife in Silay City.

Previously, PNP Chief General Guillermo Eleazar had issued a warning to policemen not to have extramarital affairs as it is in violation of the PNP’s code of ethical standards.
