REELECTED San Enrique town Mayor-elect Jilson Tubillara said on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, that he is ready for any election protest that may be filed by his rival.”I heard they will file an election protest but I have not yet received a copy,” Tubillara said.He took his oath before Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Tuesday at the latter’s office in Bacolod City together with Councilors Kirk Steven Debulgado, Armando Magallanes and Dr. Jiff Tubillara.Tubillara, who is in his second term as town mayor, won over his opponent Leo Delfinado by a margin of 10 votes after he garnered 8,182 votes against the latter’s 8,172.The mayor said San Enrique with its small population has expected that it will be a close fight.”Election protests are natural in politics (and) some people will not immediately accept defeat in politics. It is aimed to refresh one’s supporters,” he stressed.Tubillara said no protests have prospered so far in San Enrique, adding that the other party also won four seats in the Sangguniang Bayan and the vice mayor. The mayor said he does not see a problem with the composition of the Sangginiang Bayan as the representatives of the Sanggunian Kabataan and the Association of Barangay Captains are his allies.”I don’t think it’s good governance if they will not cooperate,” he said, as he appealed to his constituency to remain calm.”
