Phoenix Global Enterprise Development Forum Arrives in Kuala Lumpur

——Exploring the Path of “Dialogue & Coexistence” Between China and Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Dec. 15, 2025 – The “Dialogue & Coexistence” Phoenix Global Development Forum for Enterprises, organized by Phoenix TV, was successfully convened at the Pavilion Arena in Kuala Lumpur on December 15.
The event gathered more than one hundred participants, including government officials, business leaders, senior executives, and cultural representatives from China and Malaysia. They held extensive dialogues focusing on the internationalization strategies of Chinese companies and bilateral industrial and cultural collaboration, seeking new avenues for mutual development and prosperity.
The forum was endorsed by the Malaysia Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperativs Development (MECD) and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia. Significant support also came from Phoenix TV’s global partner Yonyou, the official vehicle partner GAC, industry partners Carpenter Tan, Dong-E-E-Jiao, and WALOVI, alongside supporting partners the ASEAN Retail-Chains and Franchise Federation (ARFF) and the Pavilion Group.
Mr. Lee Thai Hung, Deputy Director General of Tourism Malaysia, representing the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, gave the opening speech. He remarked that this year signifies a fresh beginning after the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations, with bilateral ties embarking on a “new golden 50 years.” He stressed the growing importance of cultural and people-to-people exchanges in bilateral cooperation. He praised Phoenix TV for establishing this platform for dialogue, expressing confidence that media and cultural linkages can foster more sustainable, long-term momentum for economic and trade partnerships.
Speaking for the organizer, Mr. Zhang Tong, Vice President of Business Development at Phoenix TV, said that as a Hong Kong-based global Chinese-language multimedia group, Phoenix TV is dedicated to promoting Chinese culture and international communication. The sustained enthusiasm and support from the Malaysian audience have encouraged Phoenix TV to deepen its involvement and ongoing dialogue in the region. He added that Phoenix TV remains focused on tracking new trends in Chinese enterprises’ global expansion and the changing needs of international businesses, utilizing an international media lens to chronicle developments, engage in progress, and enhance value.
After the opening addresses, senior executives from leading Chinese and Malaysian companies presented keynote speeches, offering前沿 insights and practical knowledge on the globalization of Chinese enterprises.
Dato’ Eddie Ong Choo Meng, CEO of Hextar Group, delivered a keynote titled “Co-creating Prosperity.” He described the evolution of the 40-year-old Hextar Group from its origins in traditional industries such as fertilizers to its present position as a major diversified corporation with numerous business lines and approximately 4,000 employees. He also examined the potential for synergistic collaboration and innovation between Chinese and Malaysian firms, citing Hextar’s substantial partnerships with Chinese companies like Luckin Coffee.
Mr. Justin Li, President of HONOR South Pacific, shared his perspective in a speech called “Through the Lens of Mobile Technology: HONOR’s Cross-Cultural Insights.” He elaborated on HONOR’s global strategy and brand development in international markets, with a specific emphasis on embedding into the local Malaysian market and connecting with younger consumers. He underscored HONOR’s partnership with Tourism Malaysia to support “Visit Malaysia Year 2026” as an example of achieving business success through profound cultural integration.
Mr. Simon Chen, General Manager of Yonyou Malaysia, gave a presentation titled “Expanding Outward, Cultivating Inward: Digital Infrastructure Opportunities Behind the Wave of Chinese Globalization.” He concentrated on the role of digital tools and platforms as critical infrastructure for companies expanding abroad to improve operational efficiency and ensure localized, compliant business practices, as well as the accompanying global opportunities in this field.
A special segment dedicated to the globalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) featured Phoenix TV host Nicholas Li introducing the network’s major documentary project, “The Healing Path.” He then conducted a detailed discussion with one of the documentary’s participants, renowned Malaysian Chinese TCM practitioner Dr. Neoh Karen, on the subject of “Opportunities and Thresholds for TCM Globalization.”
The forum wrapped up with an insightful roundtable discussion named “Towards Shared Prosperity: How Cultural Exchange Empowers China-Malaysia Collaboration.”
Participants included Tan Sri Dato Sri ONG Tee Keat, President of the Belt and Road Initiative Caucus for Asia Pacific (BRICAP); Dato’ Abdul Majid Khan, President of the Malaysia-China Friendship Association and Former Malaysian Ambassador to China; Dato’ Kuik Cheng Kang, Editor-in-Chief of the Media Chinese International Limited (MCIL) Group; and Ms. Jenny Tu, CEO of Target Media. The panelists offered profound insights from various angles, including policy dialogue, cultural bonds, media influence, and business applications. They detailed how cultural soft power can provide lasting energy to bilateral economic and trade cooperation, forging a stronger partnership.
After the formal proceedings, participants continued their conversations during a luncheon.
This event signifies the inaugural Malaysian edition of Phoenix’s international event series, “Phoenix Go Glocal.” Launched in Indonesia in December 2024, “Phoenix Go Glocal” strives to be the “preferred international communication platform for enterprises going global” and has garnered considerable interest from expanding firms. Moving forward, utilizing Phoenix TV’s ability to integrate cross-regional resources and its local operational experience, “Phoenix Go Glocal” will continue to help more Chinese businesses expand internationally while also aiding more global companies in accessing the Chinese market.
