2025 ‘Silk Road for All Children’ International Children’s Literature Week and 10th Fairy Tales Conference Held in Wuyi

Wuyi, Zhejiang, December 8, 2025 – The 2025 “Silk Road for All Children” International Children’s Literature Week and 10th Fairy Tale Conference took place on December 6 in Wuyi, Zhejiang Province, China. Under the guidance of the China Authors Association and co-hosted by its International Department, the China Intercontinental Communication Center, and the Zhejiang Authors Association, the gathering drew over one hundred children’s literature writers, publishers, academics, and cultural institution representatives from 25 countries and territories.
Centered on the theme “Hearts of Wonder, World of Harmony,” the event established a robust platform for international exchanges in children’s literature and IP development through various formats such as campus visits by celebrated authors, keynote addresses, presentations of achievements, fairy tale theater productions, and on-site investigations.
During the opening ceremony, organizers unveiled a range of accomplishments from China-international collaboration initiatives in children’s literature, spanning areas such as emerging writer development, child-friendly community construction, global distribution of fairy tale film and TV content, copyright licensing, and new title launches. These comprehensive outcomes demonstrate Wuyi’s dedicated efforts and growing global impact in the children’s literature sector. The organizing committee also designated several international dignitaries as “Fairy Tale Wuyi” International Communication Ambassadors, including Kreidieh Shereen, Chair of the 2026 International Hans Christian Andersen Award Jury; Ian Denison, former UNESCO Publishing and Brand Chief and Coordinator of the World Book Capital and World Book and Copyright Day programs; Françoise Hervet, Deputy Mayor of Nevers, France; Kiran Gautam, President of Nepal’s Current Media and Research Centre and Current Publication Pvt. Ltd.; and Elena Kazakevich, Russian children’s literature author.
Throughout the event, prominent children’s literature figures from five continents—including Gao Hongbo, Tang Sulan, Li Lifang, Tang Tang (Tang Hongying), Hei He, Ian Denison, Kreidieh Shereen, Sveshnikov Ilia, Ahlam Bolooki, and Yoro Diallo—engaged in various thematic activities focused on children’s literature, collectively fostering cross-cultural intellectual exchange.
As a key hub for children’s literature creation and development in China, Wuyi, Zhejiang, has steadily built its “Fairy Tale Wuyi” brand over the past ten years by facilitating worldwide publication of children’s literature, staging fairy tale artistic performances, developing IP adaptations, and producing international translations and multimedia works. To date, Wuyi has secured overseas copyright exports for 45 titles; 28 fairy tale works have been rendered into eight languages and released in twelve countries; eleven microfilms and 120 fairy tale radio drama episodes have been produced, creating a dynamic “international ecosystem for children’s literature.”
