Tampa, Florida Nov 11, 2025  – Black Connect, Inc. (Black Connect), recognized as the sole national chapter and membership-based nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering small business owners and bridging the racial wealth gap through entrepreneurship, is pleased to announce two significant advancements: the appointment of Kurt Phelps as Director of Business Development, and the establishment of its new Tampa office, situated at Industrious at Sparkman Wharf.

To commemorate these achievements, Black Connect will host a Meet & Greet / Open House on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM, extending an invitation to members, corporate allies, and local business leaders for an evening dedicated to networking, collaboration, and community building.

Mr. Phelps’s appointment is anticipated to bolster Black Connect’s national expansion strategy, focusing on fostering strategic partnerships, securing corporate sponsorships, broadening chapter presence, and enhancing member engagement across its network. The launch of the Tampa office is part of the organization’s broader initiative to establish localized hubs that provide crucial resources—legal, financial, mentorship, and networking—to Black entrepreneurs in key markets.

“Joining Black Connect as Director of Business Development presents a compelling opportunity to strengthen our partnerships and accelerate our impact across markets,” stated Phelps. “This Tampa hub will connect entrepreneurs, professionals, and institutions in innovative ways—facilitating access, stimulating capital flows, and reinforcing the foundational ecosystem for Black-owned businesses.”
