Krakow, Malopolskie May 25, 2026 – The Polish food-tech firm Proteine Resources has unveiled VELI, a new functional pet food brand built around its proprietary ingredient, EntoPro. This launch serves not only as a consumer product introduction but also as a B2B proof of concept for pet food brands, retailers, and private-label makers aiming to quickly enter the functional pet nutrition market.
Proteine Resources has debuted VELI, a range of functional wet dog food utilizing EntoPro, the company’s hybrid alternative protein platform. The brand was showcased at Interzoo 2026 in Nuremberg, a premier global trade fair for the pet industry.
EntoPro integrates functional protein from insects, natural prebiotic fiber (chitin), and bioactive compounds sourced from mushroom cultivation by-products. The VELI platform culminates eight years of R&D, which included 18 months dedicated to perfecting VELI’s recipes, taste, and market positioning.
To Proteine Resources, VELI represents more than just a new brand. It is a practical market example of how alternative proteins can transition from niche innovations to scalable commercial offerings.
The company states that the main challenge for alternative proteins in pet food now extends beyond sustainability. Brands and retailers seek ingredients that are tasty, functional, cost-effective, and simple to integrate at an industrial scale. Proteine Resources engineered the EntoPro platform to meet all these needs within a single ingredient system.
Internal taste tests ranked VELI’s performance on par with premium fresh-cooked pet foods in trials involving multiple dog groups. The company is also performing functional studies on EntoPro in collaboration with the University of Agriculture in Krakow (URK). Following extensive in vitro research, formal in vivo testing has now commenced.

This enables D2C brands, retail chains, and private-label manufacturers to explore the functional wet food segment without needing to develop their own alternative protein R&D capabilities from the ground up.
Proteine Resources intends to seek certification for EntoPro in Canada and the United States later in 2026.
