The BIS Mumbai Branch Office initiated World Standards Day 2025 celebrations in Nashik, featuring Shreekant Patil, who represented NIMA and underscored the importance of BIS certifications for MSME development and global market positioning.

Nashik, Maharashtra Nov 6, 2025  – The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Mumbai Branch Office, hosted a Stakeholder Meet on September 27, 2025, at Enrise by Sayaji, Nashik, to commemorate World Standards Day 2025. This year’s observance centered on the international theme, “Shared Vision for a Better World – Partnerships for the Goals” (SDG 17).

The Stakeholder Meet Conclave brought together prominent figures from industry, government, and entrepreneurship to discuss the critical contribution of standards to sustainable development, quality assurance, and global commerce.

Shri Pinaki Gupta, Scientist E and Director & Head of the BIS Mumbai Branch Office, inaugurated the program. He emphasized BIS’s unwavering commitment to supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through certification, testing, and awareness campaigns. Gupta highlighted the organization’s objective to foster innovation, environmental sustainability, and international competitiveness by ensuring safer, dependable products.

CEng. Shreekant Patil, who serves as NIMA Committee Chairman, a BIS Technical Committee Member, and the event’s Chief Guest, received a BIS memento from Shri Pinaki Gupta. In his keynote address, Patil expressed gratitude to BIS and highlighted NIMA’s continuous efforts in cultivating a robust startup ecosystem, aiding MSMEs with essential quality certifications (including BIS, CE, and ZED), and promoting women’s empowerment and skill development. He proudly mentioned Nashik’s recent accomplishment of achieving the highest number of ZED certifications in Maharashtra, with 3,179 units certified from July to September 2025.

Patil further pledged ongoing support for BIS initiatives within the Nashik region, committing to collaboration to enhance awareness of quality standards and assist MSMEs in attaining global competitiveness. He reaffirmed that nurturing quality and innovation is crucial for establishing India as Viksit Bharat (Developed India) and bolstering exports to strengthen the nation’s economy.

Ms. Komal Labade from the District Industries Centre (DIC), Nashik, alongside Shri Sheetal Patil and Shri V. Gopinath, Deputy Director General (West) of the BIS Western Regional Office, addressed attendees about the significance of enhancing industry-government cooperation. The event concluded with an in-depth presentation by the BIS Mumbai team on Conformity Assessment and Quality Ecosystem Development, followed by a formal vote of thanks.

The event successfully underscored the vital role of partnerships and adherence to standards in propelling India’s sustainable development objectives and enabling industries to attain excellence and expand their global footprint.
