Brazil rolls out national policy to fight match-fixing in sports betting

April 3, 2026 by No Comments

(AsiaGameHub) –   To tackle match-fixing and uphold the integrity of competitions, Brazil has implemented a new national policy. This framework was established by Inter Ministerial Ordinance No 1, issued on March 25, 2026. The initiative, named PNPEMR, will see collaborative efforts from the Ministries of Sports, Finance, Justice, and Public Security.

Consequently, this policy will introduce enhanced oversight to Brazil’s rapidly expanding betting market. Licensed operators are now required to monitor and report any suspicious betting activities to regulators in real-time.

The framework is structured around four core pillars: Regulation, Prevention, Monitoring, and Enforcement. Its aim is to align Brazil with global integrity standards and foster improved cooperation among the relevant authorities and the implicated industries.

The Ministry of Finance will be tasked with ensuring compliance with betting regulations, while the Federal Police will lead investigations into Sports Fraud, including those involving cross-border activities.

Furthermore, a dedicated Steering Committee will be formed to oversee the framework’s implementation, bringing together law enforcement, regulators, and licensed operators.

The overarching objective of this new national policy is to foster a more transparent and secure sports betting environment within Brazil.
