Japan’s Profit Falls 35%

(AsiaGameHub) –   Japanese pachinko operator Dynam Japan Holdings announced a 35.1% year-over-year drop in profit attributable to shareholders for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. This decline was mainly driven by higher impairment charges on non-financial assets and increased financing costs, which affected both pre-tax profit and EBITDA.

Per the group’s financial results released on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the attributable profit for the period ending March 31, 2026, stood at JPY2.6 billion (US$16.3 million), down from JPY4.0 billion in the prior year.

The group’s total revenue fell by 2.3% to JPY123.2 billion (US$772.7 million). This was due to lower revenue from its core pachinko business and a reduction in the number of halls it operated at the end of the period—423 halls, compared to 427 in the previous year.

Dynam noted that the industry saw a slight increase in player numbers last year, driven by a growing number of users of smart pachislot machines. However, traditional pachinko continues to face significant challenges.

Given the underwhelming results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, the board of directors chose to maintain the final dividend at JPY2.50 (US$0.016) per share. When combined with the interim dividend, this keeps the total annual dividend unchanged at JPY5.00 (US$0.031) per share.
