TWO employees of an eatery were injured after they were shot by the husband of their co-worker at Barangay Sum-ag in Bacolod City at about 10 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2022.Major Junjie Liba, commander of Police Station 9, identified the victims as Michael Diopeta, 28, and Jemar Berja, 42, both residents of the village.Liba said the victims were having a drinking session inside the eatery when Rommel Castillo of Bangga Cabug along with his unidentified companion fired at them and fled.Diopeta and Berja sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were brought to the South Bacolod General Hospital. They are now in stable condition, the police said.Police recovered from the scene of the crime four empty shells and a fired bullet of unidentified firearms.Liba said Castillo was looking for his wife, who also happens to be a relative of the eatery owner, and shot the victims instead when he failed to locate her.Investigation showed that prior to the incident, Castillo had a misunderstanding with his wife because she wanted to end their relationship. In a related development, Castillo was arrested in follow-up joint operation by the Himamaylan City Police Station and Bacolod City Police Station 9 at Purok 3, Barangay 4 in Himamaylan City Thursday afternoon.Liba said after the incident, they were informed that Castillo went to his relative in Himamaylan City.He said Castillo will be transferred to the station and he will be charged for two counts of frustrated murder. He added they are still conducting further investigation to determine the identity of Castillo’s companion, who is still at-large.
