Bacolod police net over P600,000 in illegal drugs in May

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized P655,492.80 worth of illegal drugs in various operations in Bacolod City from May 1 to 31, 2021.

BCPO records showed from May 1 to 31, BCPO recovered 96.396 grams of illegal drugs with an estimated market value of P655,492.80.

The police conducted a total of 50 operations that led to the arrest of 62 street-level drug personalities in various barangays of Bacolod. They already filed 94 cases before the City Prosecutor’s Office against the suspects.

In the same period, BCPO also arrested five most wanted persons and 44 other wanted persons charged with various offenses.

In the campaign against loose firearms, BCPO seized a total of five loose firearms in its heightened operations. Suspects arrested were charged for Violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition before the court.

As a result of the continuous information drive of the Philippine National Police’s program OPLAN “KATOK” on Annual Verification of Firearms, a total of 28 firearms were deposited and surrendered to BCPO.

In the campaign against all forms of illegal gambling, BCPO conducted a total of 14 police operations in violation of Presidential Decree (PD) 1602 and PD 449, with 40 individuals arrested.

Ten cases have been filed in court against the violators while total bet money amounting to P2, 128 was confiscated during the said operations.

Colonel Manuel Placido, director of BCPO, also commended the operating units and its personnel for a job well done and in their relentless effort through police-initiated operations to lessen criminality.

He also reminded the personnel to always be motivated in doing their jobs to make Bacolod City safe and peaceful and keep on alert against Covid-19 by strictly implementing and observing the minimum health protocols for their safety and protection.
