BFP-Bacolod logs 25 fire incidents in March

THE Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Bacolod City has recorded 25 fire incidents in the city in March, which is the fire prevention month.City Fire Marshall Chief Inspector Rodel Legaspi said they are thankful that there was a lesser number of fire incidents as they were anticipating that there will be more cases.”We only recorded P205,100 in damage,” he said, adding that more than half a million pesos properties were burned from 21 fire incidents last year.In 2020, damage from 34 fire incidents in Bacolod City reached more than P2 million, Legaspi said.The fire marshal noted that most of the fire incidents were grass and garbage fire.Legaspi said the lower fire incidents this month can be attributed to their campaign on fire prevention where they also involved various sectors to help them on their fire safety campaign.On Thursday, the BFP honored the local government unit, national government agencies, non-government organization, volunteer fire brigades, rescue groups and the members of the local media including SunStar Bacolod during the culminating activity of the Fire Prevention Month 2022 themed “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi ka Nag-iisa” at the Bacolod City Fire Station, San Juan Street, Barangay 8.Legaspi said they also formed the community fire auxiliary group (CPAG) in various barangays who will also serve as first responder in fire incidents within their barangays.”They will be the one to inform us of the emergency so that we will have our quick reaction,” he said.He added that currently, the Barangays Taculing and Handumanan also purchased their own fire trucks and they will train their personnel.Legaspi disclosed that more barangays also signified to purchase their own fire trucks.*
