Bongbong Marcos, wife thank Negrenses for support

PRESUMPTIVE president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and wife, lawyer Liza Araneta-Marcos, expressed their gratitude to the Negrenses during a post-election celebration held in Silay City on Wednesday, May 18.”We will never forget what you have done for us for life. We will soon be together again and mabuhay kayong lahat,” Marcos said in a virtual message he sent.Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, a staunch supporter of Marcos, led the victory celebration of the latter as he continue to widen his lead over incumbent Vice President Leni Robredo.The celebration was also attended by businessman Leo Rey Yanson, Janet Gonzaga, Don Salvador Benedicto Mayor Marxlen Dela Cruz and Pulupandan Mayor Miguel Peña, Negros Occidental Fourth District Board Member Joeben Alonso and former Second District Board Member Gary Acuña.Several groups supporting Marcos such as the Silent Majority, BBM 2022, Abante Negrense, People’s Initiative Volunteer, Ambassador of Goodwill, BBM Youth,Ipagpatuloy mo ang Pagbabago, KBL, Uniteam HQ staff, and Marcos Parin, among others also graced the occasion.Marcos and his runningmate vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio earned the highest number of votes with an overall count in the Philippines of 31,104, 175 and 31,561,948 votes, respectively.Ferrer lauded Marcos’ supporters in the province for working hard to deliver the votes needed to bring in the overall victory of the two national officials.Ferrer earlier explained that Negros votes for Marcos in the recently concluded elections narrowed down Robredo’s wide lead in 2016.Robredo won in the province, which is considered as one of the vote-rich areas in the Philippines, after she garnered 638,932 votes while Marcos only received 601,049.In 2016, Robredo got 733,000 votes in the province, while Marcos only got 162,370, or a difference of 572,000 votes.
