Capitol observes Action for Women’s Health International Day

THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, through the Provincial Gender and Development Focal Point System (PGFPS), has joined the international observance of the Day of Action for Women’s Health Thursday, May 26, 2022.Women Capitol employees availed of health services including blood sugar, cholesterol and uric acid testing, and Covid-19 vaccination, spearheaded the Provincial Health Office at the Provincial Capitol Lobby in Bacolod City.It was followed by a Women’s Health Solidarity Program held at the Capitol Social Hall.Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said that women’s health is influenced not just by their biology but also by other conditions such as poverty, employment, and family responsibilities.“Today, let us commit to action to make sure that in Negros Occidental, women’s rights are upheld, and all forms of discrimination eradicated. Let us purposely reject gender as a determinant of health and well-being,” he said.Present in the activity were Board Members Rita Gatuslao and Araceli Somosa, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, Assistant. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Jessica Fama, and PGFPS Action Officer and Executive Assistant IV Marie June Castro, among others.The top Binalaybay and Composo entries that focused on Women’s Health also performed at the afternoon session followed by a Zumba Dance led by Ching Alcala and Capitol Hataw Group at the Capitol Lagoon Park Stage.
