TO CONVINCE more Negrenses to get vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental will be giving incentives, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Thursday, June 2, 2022.Lacson said barangay health workers (BHW), who can convince more vaccinees in the eight day-province-wide vaccination drive, will also get P25 in cash incentives per individual. He said those who will be fully vaccinated during the inoculation drive will be getting five kilos of rice each.”We are still dependent on the local government units (LGUs), especially the barangay health workers (since) it is now their task to convince their respective communities, especially the senior citizens,” the governor added. The provincial vaccination will be held every Thursday and Friday for the first three weeks of June, and on Monday and Tuesday in the last week. The provincial government aims to vaccinate 666,363 residents against Covid-19 this month to hit 100 percent of its target population.Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, provincial health officer, said that the 100-percent vaccination target comprises 80 percent of Negros Occidental’s 2,623,026 population or 2,098,420 residents.Hitting 100 percent of their target will also mean de-escalating the alert levels of more LGUs in the province, the majority of which are still under Alert Level 2.The province has enough Covid-19 vaccines to hit its 100-percent target, he added.
