Ceneco lays down preparations for May 9 polls

THE Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) has laid down its preparations for Monday’s (May 9) local and national elections.The power distribution utility caters to the largest number of electric consumers in the province, including those in the cities of Bacolod, Bago, Talisay and Silay, and towns of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto.Unice Pasaylo-Castillon, information and promotion coordinator of Ceneco, said they have already deployed additional security guards for their sub-stations to ensure its safety.”Our Emergency Response Team is on 24-hour operation even though it’s a holiday on Monday,” Castillon said, adding that they double the number of their crew who are ready to respond in case of emergencies.She said Ceneco has been conducting tree clearing operations a few days before the elections.”If you notice, we have had power interruptions lately. These are also in preparation or maintenance of our lines so that we will have a credible power supply on election day,” she added.Castillon also said they assigned additional personnel who will serve as telephone operators who will receive calls 24/7.A separate number or communication dedicated for the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has been set up in case of power interruptions that could affect the polling precincts during the election, she added.
